Could have been a NICE ONE.

We have had a nice weekend. The weather has been wonderful and we have gotten things accomplished and had some fun too. Friday night Needles was in the heat of knitting competition but Saturday after we got some rest we were able to get some things done. Saturday morning I mowed and after I came inside and got my shower we were off to the big city for grocery shopping that was long over due. Shortly after we returned home an put away our purchases it was time to load up for the movies. We decided last week that we were going to go to the Drive In movie theatre. They were playing Spidey 3 and Ghost Rider. We arrived about 45 minutes before the start. The place was already beginning to get packed. Rudy, Brando and the crew also joined us as we unfolded our lawn cars and set in for the entertainment. About half way into the first movie the wind started to pick up and there was a steady breeze that had nip to it. I decided to climb into the truck and Needles followed. Unfortunately Rudy and the gang couldn't all set in the van and watch the movie so they got a bit chilled as the night progressed. After the first movie was over they left and we were there to watch the 2nd feature. I really enjoyed Spidey 3 and can't wait for it to come out on DVD so that I can purchase it a watch again but as for Ghost Rider it was O.K. I would have to say of all of the Comic based movies I would have to rank this one just above Electra and Dare Devil. Dare Devil was last. The story was good the villains were cheesy and the special effect drove me nuts. Ghost riders flaming skull gave me the impression of a skull in a fish bowl. I think they should have gave the flames less transparency so that you couldn't see the full skull at all times. In some scenes his head/skull looked too big for his body. The pentance stare seemed to be GRs one and only "power" and the effects just made it look cheesy. This movie had alot and I mean a butt load of potential. To bad the producer and director fell short delivering on it. Of the comic related movies I have seen the ranking would go something like this.

  1. X Men 1
  2. Spiderman 1
  3. Blade 1
  4. Xmen 2
  5. Spiderman 2
  6. Fantastic Four
  7. Blade 2
  8. Spiderman 3
  9. Hell Boy
  10. The Punisher
  11. Alien Vs. Predator
  12. X Men 3
  13. Blade 3
  14. The Hulk
  15. Ghost Rider
  16. Electra
  17. Dare Devil

Not included in this list was Conan and Red Sonya which were also based on comic book starts.

Tonight we are going to fire up the projecter and watch Jame Bond Casino Royal in the comfort of our bed. I love you Net Flicks. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I love drive-ins, but inevitably fall asleep during the second feature or end up having to make the long walk to the restroom at an pivotal point in the movie.

I may need to take my Cynical to the drive-in just across the river.
