Weekend Fenzy Continues.

Today I awoke promptly at 7:oo am. I got up and got my shower and was ready to face the day. After Needles woke up we waited for a load of laundry to finish. One of many on the day. After the wet clothes was loaded onto the dryer we set out to the big city to see what they had. First visit was to Wal-Mart. After spending some moolah there we then went to Kmart and didn't find much. Next was CVS to see what Halloween items they might have marked down and then to Walgreen for more of the same. After that our stomachs were growling since we skipped breakfast and it was now 11:30 am. Our next stop was at the Chinese restaurant. We devoured plate after plate of food and then waddled out to the truck to continue our shopping. Our next stop was to JC Pennys where we found some nice bargains. A nice comforter and sheet set for our new bed and Needles found a nice pair of shoes. After that we went to Rural King and then to Lowe's for our home improvement dreams. I must say we must have been in the mood to improve because we came out of there with a new mailbox, new toilet seat. Isn't that an odd combination but they were things that I have wanted to replace for some time and finally got around to it. The mailbox is one that a magazine will fit nicely in as Needles get several subscriptions of knitting magazines a I got tire of see them crammed into out little mailbox.
Tonight we are getting ready for Halloween tomorrow night. The spooky fencing is up and the caution tape is strung around. All is left is everything, like the guillotine and the electric chair, the skeleton in the cage and the coffin, the fog machine and the lanterns....... Not much. I am hoping the showers they have forecasted stays away. If not I fear we will have a smaller turn out. Last year we had a great turn out of 83 trick or treaters. This is great when we usually average around 50 or so. Happy Halloween.

The picture above is what Needles and I felt like to day. Busy busy busy bee.

Weekend Frenzy.

Thursday night Needlefingers and I went to Needles work place and set in on a lecture of a real live ghost hunter. His name was Peter Jordan of Vestigia, featured and interviewed on ABC, CBS, Unsolved Mysteries and 20/20. Although setting in a room with 300+ college students, coughing, sneezing and making other unfortunate noises wasn't on the top of my to do list, It was interesting . If we don't come down with the flu or something I think we will be lucky. Anyway the lecture was neat and chilling at times with visuals and sound effects. The story of the Rainboy was interesting, and stories of haunted houses and the experiences he had while investigating them was intriguing. I think between the subject matter and just enough comic relief injected to keep the adolescent minds occupied and interested for the hour and a half we were there. Afterward Needlefingers and I strolled over to the on campus coffee shop for a nice beverage. Needlefingers chose hot, I chose cold as I was burning up in the lecture room. All in all it was neat and I would recommend anyone who gets a chance to hear his lecture to do so. You won't regret it.

Last night ,while Needlefingers was away, my brother, a friend and I went to the local haunted house. At first you walk in and see some blood and gore on a table, then proceed through the black plastic sheeting into twisting and winding pathways with people in various masks standing like zombies on either side of you. Occasionally a loud pop or bang as if a balloon popped behind you is heard. We made our way through the building to the exit or what I thought was the exit only to turn and enter again into the other side of the building. Again a plastic sheeting maze seen briefly as strobes, loud noises, occasional growls and howl from masked people along side. At what was thought as the exit again was a woman laughing over the body of her dead husband screaming "I did it....I did it....And I'd do it again!" Back into the building again as you hear a chainsaw and see Leatherface beside you with a sudden appearance and hand shake from Freddy Krueger. Then the best part of the haunted house was then puking man. A unfortunate soul kneeled down over a barrel with perpetual puke rolling out of his face, complete with sound effects that tightens the gut. Not a bad haunted house for 5$ a head. I think they did a really good job.
Today was trying to get things ready for Monday. The forecast of rain is not setting well with me but what can I do about it. I am already making arrangements to keep animated props on my tiny front porch. All battery operated props have been loaded with fresh batteries. I am planning on getting off early from work to have time to put some of my items for trick or treating up. Unfortunately I live in a neighborhood that I can't place the things out early or they will get broken or taken, so everything goes up Halloween day and down Halloween night. Makes for a busy day. Also have been having trouble with the Jeeps brakes for a few weeks and finally broke down and come to the conclusion that ignoring it doesn't make it go away. Pulled passenger side drum off to find it in good condition. Should have know a 50/50 shot and I would choose the wrong one. Drivers side drum wouldn't come off even after bleeding so had to beat on it awhile to get it out. Found the retention spring by the brake adjuster had broken and breaks were wearing down and one brake pad had even split. Got it replaced and test drove it and all is well with the Jeep now.
Needlefinger was away for a couple nights to accompany her mother to get a heart Cathy done. They were at the hospital 9 1/2 hours for that and getting up a 5 am to be there in time to get delayed a couple hours due to emergencies. She tolerated the procedure well but had to stay a few extra hours because the incision site wouldn't stop bleeding completely. Needles mom is now home and doing well. Unfortunately the test has told us that she will require some surgery to fix a malfunctioning valve in her heart. I guess we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Needlefingers brought home a queen size mattress to put in the guest room for some guests that will soon be visiting us. Schedule pending. As you can see we have a guest already and by the smile on his or her face the new mattress is comfy. We hope to iron out plans for a visit from Cynical and Ragged before winter sinks in its claws and weather gets bad. I just know were gonna have a bad weather. The last few years we have been lucky with cold temps but little snow and were due for a big snow winter.

The first picture is the Halloween candy for the kiddies Monday night. The second is one our Halloween props trying out our new guest bedroom mattress and the last is our good Halloween candy that I have already put a dent onto over the last couple days.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!

Monday..Monday.

Last night we had company... Good company...It was Jennifer from Jenny from the blog. Needlefingers made broccoli cheese soup with croissant on the side. It was just the thing to warm us on a cool October night. We sat around discussing the important things in life like what the inside of a skittles wrapper smells like and what might the world be like if "W" had half a clue. Anyway it was a pleasant evening all around. Since we have the Quartz heater going Kitty Boy has found a favorite place to lay. Of course its in the only traffic lane to get to the kitchen, so we have to step over him regularly while he lays stretched out front claws dug into the carpet so that his back looks like a sway back horse. The leaves on the tree in the front yard are falling. I think they have only just changed color just a couple days ago but sadly they are not staying on the tree to show off there lovely colors. They are spinning to the ground in groups every time the wind even hints at blowing. At this rate the tree will be naked within the next few days. It is now dark and I cannot see the leaves, another Monday is about to slip away.

The first picture is of the tree canopy in the front yard. The second is the ground below it.

Geo Party

Well tonight was the big night. We had a Geocache Event party that was Halloween themed. Everything seem to be in order and we thought all of our I's were dotted and T's were crossed........WRONG! Like all events something has to go wrong. Call it a gremlin in the systems or Murphy's law. Unfortunately we had several hickups in the event. One cache a coordinate number was wrong and placed it some miles away. Luckily the cachers were smart to recognize the error and compensate. Then another cache had the parking coords. posted instead of the final cache. Another somewhat rookie mistake but hopefully we learn from it a press on to have an even better event next year. I think all of our guests had fun and got plenty to eat. We enjoyed hearing some of the creative and interesting caches they have visited all over the country. All in all I think it was a fun event and hope to do it again next year. Wishing you all a Happy Halloween.

The first picture is a skeleton my bother made to recite "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. His eyes light up and his mouth moves to the words. The second picture is a pumpkin carved for the event with the Geocaching logo.

Feline Short Bus....

Sometime I think our furry little master is not all that bright. We have a full glass storm door on the front porch and often leave the steel door open to let Fuzzy look outside. Occasionally a small moth or cricket will land on the glass and Fuzzy face looses his mind. He tries to attack the offender at the front door with much entusiasum that I think he might give himself a concussion, thus perpetuating the brain damaged kitty syndrome. Maybe we need to get him a kitty crash helmet....Maybe one with Evil Kenevel strips down the sides. I guess I should be glad he remembers where the litter box is. After all we love him so and he loves looking outside.

Family Fun Visit.

My parents are up from Kentucky this week, so instead of after work coming home, scraping up something to eat, plopping on the couch and watching T.V., Needlefingers and I are treated to my Mom's home away from home cooking. Also my Brother and his family stop by and we visit and catch up on important things and less important things and totally useless things. Anyway it fun to visit and relax with my immediate family under one roof again. The evening goes like this. Mom keeping oldest grandchild entertained, because his need to have undivided attention at times. My Father entertaining youngest grandchild as she just learned to walk and goes from person to person sampling what ever food or snack they might have. While my Brother and I set around giggling at rude jokes and tricks he has played on his co workers . Needlefingers calmly knitting away while youngest grandchild stares while half walking/ half tripping by. My brothers wife staring at her husband and I like were idiots for laughing and giggling like little children with playground humor. All in all we have a good time together. Can't wait til tomorrow and do it all over again.......... That is the part after work.

Day Dream Monday.

Today was a nice but crazy day. I think I describe it that way because the day was crazy but day dreaming off and on about our wonderful weekend made it better. Needlefingers and I are already planning for a Ragged and Cynical visit and it's only been roughly 26 hrs since we saw them. I think we are going to go to Poor Ole Bob's Gettin Place (real store name, honest) and see about getting a bed for our guess room. We have needed one for a long time and this is just the excuse we need to finally make the dream a reality. We had a great weekend and hope to do it again soon but our little town has less to offer than the promise land of Kentucky. I hope Ragged and Cynical enjoy their trip to the west and have fun while their there. Sheww Tired and getting sleepy so I will sign off for now. Good Night Everyone....

Above picture is a covered bridge that we crossed while walking in the park geocaching with Ragged and Cynical.

We Are Home.....

I'm glad to be home, but hated to leave. Had a great time with Ragged and Cynical Geocaching, shopping and eating at the OG and at the Festival. The Polish sausage with kraut, blooming onion and chocolate cover banananananana was good. OG was heavenly but had to waddle out of that place and walk it off at BAM. I think we were successful in planting the seed of Geocaching and I know Needlefingers has turned Ragged over to the dark side of the force. As Needlefingers was telling me on the way home. "The force is strong with that one." Sorry Cynical. I can't take her anywhere.
After we got home and unloaded our arms I smothered Kitty boy with kisses that usually he shrugs off but this time he allowed it for a few seconds before the squirming kitty romps settled in. For a few minutes it was like the Kitty 500 in here. Had a great weekend and hope to have them up this way soon.

Picture above is Needlefingers trying to bridge the species gap and turn yet another warm soul over. See even kitties can't resist the power of the dark side.

Last post before the weekend.

Getting ready for the weekend. We are so excited to get away from things for a couple days that were running around with anticipation like the first day of school. After work tomorrow it's get to the bank for a little moola to spend over the weekend and off to the promise land of Kentucky. The land were I was born and raised for a whole 10 years of my 32 year life and were most of my family resides. Taking a little creative note from Ragged here is how a phone call went last night with one of my family members.

Ring Ring....(Me)Hello.....(Family Member)Ramblin.....(Me)Yeah.....(Family Member)What does a brown recluse spider bite look like???
(I work in the medical field and have see many brown recluse bites. Short explanation won't get into it. ) After explanation. (Family Member) Uh Huh........................I got 3 baby squirrels.
I just about got whip lash from a change is subject like that. But that's my family and that's why I love them.

Needless to say after a call like that Needlefingers and I had some conversation subject matter. Like how did grandma get bit and how in the heck did aunt so and so get 3 baby squirrels. My word was it entertaining. By the way Grandma is doing well and recovering nicely. Although I think she might now be Spider Grandma.

Anyway, I will be away for the weekend and hope to have lots to post about when I return. Have a great weekend everyone....Ramblin:)

Here is a picture of a brown recluse spider for those of you not familiar with what they look like. There bites can be very nasty if no medical attention is taken. Usually a injection of a steroid along with oral anitbiotics and steroid pill pack.

Hockey

Not much to say today so i will leave this comic I found humerous.

What part of Fall am I ?????

You Are Apple Cider

Smooth and comforting. But downright nasty when cold.

What Part of Fall Are You?

I love Fall. So I had to see what part of Fall I was.
I have to admit....I don't like apple cider though.

To get the taste of politics out of my mouth.

Here is a Fall watercolor.

Life according to "W"

Does everyone but me see the logic with "W's" pick for the Supreme court? Harriet Miers? She reportedly called "W" while in Texas the best governor ever.......I think not only does this woman not have clue. I think she needs physiological evaluation with a statement like that. By his logic I actually think he would let his car mechanic do brain surgery on him because he is a "Moral Person" and Heck, If he can keep my car running I figure he can keep my brain running too. Heh Heh! (John Stewart from the Daily Show impersonation "W" laugh) This is once again proof why the country is being ran so poorly. Multitudes of unqualified buddies running around the White House like it's one big Political Kegger. All I can say is come on 2008. Even if we do get another Republican in the White House at least it won't be "W". Surely the next one will do a better job....Heck it will take 4 years to undo the screw ups "W" has done. Sometime I think that since "W" thinks God speaks to him and he is doing Gods work. I wonder if what has happened in the world over the last several months, tsunami, earthquakes & hurricanes, isn't God trying to tell "W" Think Again W.

Preparing For The Weekend.

Needlefingers and I are preparing for a trip to stay the weekend with some family and see some new sights. I am anxious to get there and chat and catch up on the goings on. Also Needlefingers is giddy to turn another warm soul over to the dark side. (Knitting) Quote Darth Vader " If you only knew the power of the dark side."
In preparation for the trip I have laundry caught up for now and hope to keep the house in good order so that when we get home we won't have much to do, Fuzzy face willing.
Getting sleepy so I will post more later on. Good night for now. ZZZZzzzzzz....

This Flu Is For The Birds.

Migraine from H-E -double hockey stick.

I went to bed early last night due to what I think was a migraine headache. To all migraine sufferers my condolences as this is probably the 2nd or 3rd one I have had in my lifetime. We ran around most of the day yesterday and I noticed an ache but thought I needed to eat something, blood sugar was low and usual cause for one of my regular headaches. After eating it seemed to get better, so I decided to peel some sweet potatoes Needlefingers uncle gave us last week. I guess the concentration with peeling with a knife sent me over. I then had the visual disturbances along with nausea and intense pain. So at 9:30pm I went to bed. After a good nights sleep, today I am back to my old self and even had a taste of the sweet potatoes Needlefingers finished up for me last night. They were delicious and I hope that the migraine headaches stay away (forever).

A Day Out And About.

Needelfingers and I just got back from placing some geocaches for a up coming party in late October. It was 56 degrees outside and Fall is definitely here. After we placed the caches we decided to drop by the outdoor market and check out the pumpkins on display. This is what we saw. Pumpkins of all sizes in all their orangey grandeur.
We then noticed the corn maze and thought neat. "How much to go in? $4 per person. Not quit that neat. You did however get a free $1 size pumpkin when you returned from your adventure in the maze. The lady said it takes the average adult 20 minutes to conquer the corn.
They also had a kids hay bail maze for free. We then purchased 3 pumpkins. One large, a medium and a red small. They looked like a happy family Needlefingers said. We then ate lunch and return home where Needlefingers has a chicken in the crock pot for a chicken and noodles supper. Here is another picture of the red/specialty pumpkins.

Have a great Fall weekend.

Another Picture By Me.

Here is another picture I took a few months ago.

Friday Again.

Today was a good day. The day was nice and steady and we were not running around like chickens with our heads cut off. Everything seemed to flow smoothly with no surprise. I got out of there at 3:15pm, not bad. I only worked about 43 hours this week, a far cry from the days of MRI and 16 hour work days. I went to the bank to drop off some bills and thought I would check on my direct deposit from my new job. The bank teller said that there wasn't a deposit. I got paid over a week ago and it hasn't made it to the bank. I have outstanding checks , namely house payment, that luckily didn't make it to the bank before I put money from savings into checking and get this fiasco straightened out. After getting home a fuming about it for several minutes and some information from Needlefingers I think we have solved the mystery of the missing deposit. My bank recently was bought out by another group and changed name and even changed location in a newly built building. The routing number has changed. My checks ordered several months ago has the old routing number. We think problem solved. Notify my work of new routing number and SHAZAM! We have income, Hooray! I am now posed to enjoy the weekend and put this little problem behind me until Monday.......Have a great weekend everyone.

A Picture I Took.

Here is a picture I took of one of the candles we lite when the power went off for several hours during a storm.

Not Much Going On.

Not much going on here. Thats a stark contrast to my usual exciting and vibrate life. NOT!
This morning was nice a crisp. Not a cool as some we have had lately but you can definately feel it is coming. Its in the breeze, its in the tinge of the leaves as a few twirl to the ground, its in jackets needed and the shorts to put away. Fall is finally here and I love it. I can't wait for mother nature to put on the best show of the year and later to hear the rustle of the leaves as I walk through them. My favorite holiday is in the fall and I go all out for it. I can't wait for Halloween.

Hump Day.

It's Wednesday and that is Hump day. No not the Black Eyed Peas song that makes me change the radio station. The day started off nice and smooth and stayed steady throughout the day. Overall a very nice day. Needlefingers got her new PDA today. She is excited to play with it but she has to let it charge for 8 hrs. I suspect other than keeping track of her knitting projects, she will download games to play on it. She had a PDA with her previous job but when she left to go to her new job the PDA was left behind. I think leaving the PDA behind was harder than leaving the job. I hope that she finds as much fun and enjoyment out of this one. Time will tell.

Picture above is titled Wednesday.

Hockey Back Again.

As you may see by the links to the right I am a hockey fan. Yes even though the players association held out for more money and it ended up biting them in the back side, I am still a hockey fan. The unfortunate outcome to the fans is that a lot of the Network stations that broadcast the games in previous years, dropped them after the season long strike of last year. Season starts tomorrow and from the television schedule I have seen has the first televised game for the Avalanche in December. That's December. Three months away. So not only did the strike run a lot of the sports fan base away with there greed, it has also run off the one thing that brings more fans and money to the sport, TV. Thank goodness that OLN has picked up a few games. With the recent rule changes made to bring more fans to the sport, I fear that this will not be enough and the NHL might take a bigger backward slide and never get more coverage by other stations. I hope that I am wrong and that things will return to several games covered a week on ESPN. Ahhh to the good ole days. GAME ON! I hope.

GO AVES!

Another Day Another Nickel.

Another Monday has gone and good riddance. It was a good day until 2:00pm then all heck broke loose. It seems like that's the way it goes, or has been since I 've been there. Tomorrow looks to be a busy day . I hope that I am wrong and that it is just steady and not pull your hair out, which way and I going and what the heck am I doing now, day. Maybe it just me but it seemed like last week went alot smoother. Maybe its just getting back into the swing of thing after a weekend but it seemed like there were alot of things that came up today that was unusual or different than what I have experience in my previous 11 days of employment. Go figure.
The weekend was uneventful. Went shopping Saturday for Halloween and other items. Sunday went to see Needlefingers mom and had lasagne. YUM! One of Needlefingers friends came over Sunday night and we had chili. Of course we had to make a run to the Dairy Dee as it was there last day of the season. No more Dairy Dee until next year. It's a sad day.

Wartime Christmas........Medic!!!!!

AHHHHhhhhh!.....Christmas. It is fast approaching and takes me back when I was a youngen. I remember looking through the wish book. Seems like the toy section was about 50% of the 3 inch think catalog. I would lay on the floor on my belly with my elbows dug into the carpet and my chin in my palms gazing into the holy grail of toy catalogs. I would be there for what seemed like hours thinking of all the neat things I could do with the toys to make the world a better place to live. I imagine Steve Austin (the bionic man not the wrestler) coming to the rescue for some of my stuffed animals being enslaved by Skeletor (He-Man figure). Also the millennium falcon flying into danger to save the rebel base from the dark side of the force. I know some of the toys and cartoons of my younger days were a little on the violent side (Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry) but my recent gaze through the JCPenny, Christmas 2005 Big Gift Book page 426 to be exact, now tamed those memories to what the present offers in the lines of toys. I noticed on said page that there is a military dressed gentlemen kneeled down to another soldier wrapped in a stretcher with a transfusion of blood hanging at his side. The description in the catalog is this. 36 pc medical team with two 12" action figures. Two action figures with detailed uniforms, plus complete "med. kit" including stethoscope, pacemaker and more. Holy Crap! Maybe this is a conspiracy to get the younger generation used to the sight of blood because they maybe the ones to continue the war on terror that doesn't seem to be any closer to an end. "Hey Johnny wouldn't it be cool if your guy got shot and my guy had to do emergency heart surgery in the field." I don't remember GI Joe coming with a transfusion kit or stretcher. Maybe they should have a soldier with detachable arms and legs able to be blown off and false arms and legs to replace the ones the ravages of war has taken away, or even a small pouch in the abdomen that when you push it blood squirts out of the stump of the detached limb. Maybe I am blowing this out of proportion but I think the moral of this country is low, with the hurricanes and gas prices to the moon and the military toys is just a reminder to families of the love ones that will not be and may never be home for Christmas. Maybe the toy industry might come out with a new line of toys of hurricane victims with water logged houses and figures that come with looted items for the kids to play with. Now wouldn't that be a Merry Christmas. I think common sense is swirling the drain. Just another rambling of a simple man.

Picture above is the actual picture from the JCpenny catalog website.
