FAT TUESDAY!

Happy Fat Tuesday everybody! Today was not a crappy as yesterday but close. We did have a nice treat at work today. It was a King cake. I had the first piece of cake but no baby. One of my co workers "L" cut in and struck twins. Our cake was decorated with beads. For those of you that aren't familiar with the tradition here it is.

On the Christian calendar, the twelfth day after Christmas is known as "Epiphany", "Twelfth Night", or "Kings Day." It is the day the gift-bearing Magi visited the baby Jesus, and is celebrated with its own unique rituals.

The New Orleans tradition, begun in the 1870s, borrows heavily from European customs. As part of the celebration of Mardi Gras, it is traditional to bake an oval cake in honor of the three kings - the King Cake. The shape of a King Cake symbolizes the unity of faiths. Each cake is decorated in the traditional Mardi Gras colors: purple represents justice, green represents faith and gold represents power. A small baby, symbolizing the baby Jesus, is baked into each cake.

In New Orleans, King Cake parties are held throughout the Mardi Gras season. In offices, classrooms, and homes throughout the city, King Cakes are sliced and enjoyed by all. Like the biblical story, the "search for the baby" adds excitement, as each person waits to see in whose slice of cake the baby will be discovered. While custom holds that the person who finds the baby in their slice will be rewarded with good luck, that person is also traditionally responsible for bringing the King Cake to the next party or gathering.

We also had New Orleans burgers for lunch in the cafeteria. It is a spicy burger almost like a meatloaf with onions and spices. It was good but could have been better with a little more spice. This evening when I got home my lovely girlfriend brought home Gumbo prepared by the culinary arts at here work. It was very good and the first time I have ever had gumbo. Although today was Fat Tuesday tomorrow is Hump Wednesday. Its a down hill slide from there. Come on weekend.

Another Day Has Gone By.

It's Monday and the day didn't go so well. I ended up working an hour and a half over, if that gives you any indication. Needles played hookie and stayed home today. Actually she got up sleepy and groggy after taking some medication last night for her aching back. She is currently making home made beef and noodles. YUM! I guess Copper and Tugger were really going at it today. I guess they were play fighting in the kitchen. As described to me, Copper's paws wrapped around Tuggers neck kicking him in the head while Tugger was biting him in the belly. I'm sure we are in for more days like this. I think they were play fighting but they sure did leave a lot of fur around. Since Copper has been feeling better he has bee playing......A lot. When we return home after the weekend it looked like he had gained 5 pounds.

Lately I have been addicted to The 70's show. I didn't get to see it much what it was originally on. I have been watching the reruns on FX. I think it is so silly and entertaining. Well my show is on so I guess I will end this post. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Back From The Promise Land.

We got home a couple hours ago. The weekend went way too fast as they always seem to. We did stop off at one of my favorite stores. Uncle Lees. Here is a picture from inside the store. I am tired so I will keep the posting short and post more tomorrow.

Crappy Thursday.

Today my boss returned to work and I was anxiously awaiting her return. We had several things happen that needed her attention and she took care of them today and now I can relax and not worry about them. I think we were busier today than we have been all week and tomorrow looks to be like another day from hell. At least it will be Friday and the weekend is close.

Copper had his appointment today and got his vaccines. We made an appointment for his neuter in two weeks. The vets assistant took his temperature and things went down hill from there. Amazing is takes 3 people to hold a 5 pound kitty to take his temp. The first thing Copper did when the vet entered the room was HISS! Not such a smart thing to hiss at the vet that's gonna be cut the manlies off in a couple week's. Oh Well I am sure it isn't the first time she has been hissed at. After that he buried himself into my belly, when he found out he couldn't crawl into my belly button to get away he then tried to climb up the front of me. He wasn't thrilled at all with the situation. Every once and awhile you could hear a deep guttural growl that made a squiggly sound. He was pissed. The vet tried to make amends by giving him some treats, but he wouldn't have any of it. He just stayed pissed until he got home.

Since we are going south for the weekend this will be my last post until Sunday. I hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

Three Days in One.

Today was a Wednesday, but I was wishing it was Friday and it felt like a Monday. The day wasn't really that bad but it seemed to last forever. My boss is to return tomorrow and we get to find out all the screw up we did while she was gone. I can't wait. I'm sure everything is fine but you do get those crazy off the wall problems that you can't foresee with a fortune telling eight ball and someone dressed like a gypsy. Tomorrow Copper has a follow up appointment. He will get his vaccinations, and be scheduled to get his boys cut. I'm sure he can't wait.

Needles and I stayed up until midnight watching a movie that I have been hearing about off and on and I thought might be a good movie. I was greatly mistaken and very disappointed in the ending. The movie was Six Degrees of Separation. I believe it was released in 1993 and was one of Will Smith's early movies. It also had Donald Sutherland and Stockard Channing in it. The beginning started out nice, well acted and the writing was smart yet overly intelligent for my taste ,but even in my limited intelligence I was able to follow most of the conversations. The movie had a surprise twist in the middle that seemed to fade quickly with the writers trying to keep the attention of the viewers by some awkward moments. The ending, like I said was disappointing as it seemed to build to somewhat of a climax only to fizzle at the last second. You are setting there when the credits start to roll saying "Is that it?" I wouldn't recommend it. It was a waste of 2 hours of my life.

Needles. "L" and I are planning a trip to the promise land this weekend. We will be heading down there Friday evening and return Sunday morning. Cynical if you and Ragged are in the neighborhood we would love to see you. We will need to make plans for another visit soon. Maybe in the spring when the weather is nice.

Deep Thoughts by Pilot:)

Here is a picture for reflection and thought.

Gasoline Gamble.

I was hit with an idea of a post today as I received a call from my boss in Las Vegas. She had mentioned that the first day they were there they had some luck, but the next day was a bust. My brother and sis-in-law just returned from the Casino Aztar with their pockets emptier than when they left. My recent thought and grip was with gasoline. Mind you, I have been to Las Vegas and it kicked my @ss and I came home more then empty handed. Lets just say cash advances on a credit card. Not smart. I returned home with only change in my pockets. My trip took me six months to pay off. As a child good luck was never on my side. When my brother and I were young boys at home we fought who was going to be the first one to get a bath or shower before going to bed at night, so we flipped a coin to preserve the furniture, our health, and my parents sanity. Needless to say I lost what seemed like 90% of those coin tosses, so you would think I would have better sense than to go to Vegas. Wrong. Anyway, back to my previous thought of gasoline and gambling. If you are like me you drive past a gasoline station every day. Probably several of them and with the higher prices of gasoline theses days, "W's" fault, I glance at my partially filled gas tank and wonder if I need to fill up or if the gas prices will go up or down before I drive back by this evening. The luck of the coin toss has continued with this recent gas gambling endeavor. I usually drive by the gas station in the morning with around 1/4 tank of gas and think, this evening when I drive by I will fill up, only to find that the gas price has shot up not a few cents but a dime per gallon. This is how my luck and fill up schedule goes.

Day/ Tank Condition /Gas prices

Gasoline was @ 2.24 for several days

Monday/ 1/4 tank /$2.24 per gallon
Tuesday/ Fill Tank /$2.24 per gallon
Wednesday/ Partial Full /$2.15 per gallon (SURPRISE!)
Thursday/ Partial Full /$2.15 per gallon
Friday/ 3/4 Tank /$2.15 per gallon
Saturday/ 3/4 Tank /$2.09 per gallon
Sunday/ 1/2 Tank /$2.09 per gallon
Monday/ 1/2 tank /$2.09 per gallon
Tuesday/ 1/4 Tank /$2.18 per gallon
Wednesday/ 1/4 Tank /$2.18 per gallon
Thursday/ 1/8 Tank /$2.18 per gallon
Friday/ 1/8 Tank /$2.18 per gallon
Saturday/ Fumes /$2.18 per gallon
Sunday/ Fill Tank /$2.18 per gallon
Monday/ Partial Full /$2.09 per gallon (FIGURES!)

I think they should put a pull handle on the gas pump, like a slot machine, and what ever the price of gas pops up, that's what you pay per gallon. I doesn't matter I would still pay the highest price.

When the gas prices do this it pisses me off. You would think that I should try to outwit the system by filling up at half a tank. It doesn't matter the gas gods seem to know when I am thinking about filling up and jack the prices accordingly.

Don't get me started on how when I pull in to get gas and have to go in to pay there is no one in the gas station. By the time I get my tank full every one and there dog is in there. Usually someone is at the counter buying cigarettes with pennies or trying to use hand gestures to tell the person behind the counter where their brand of smokes are on the shelf behind the attendee. But this is a rant for another post.

Not much to say so I will post a pic. Hope everyone had a good monday.

Sunday Night.

It is Sunday night and Needles Mom "L" is going to spend the next couple days with us. She has an appointment Tuesday with the cardiologist. We are hoping that he will clear her to drive. I think she will be cleared with no problems, she has recovered nicely and I think she might be getting a little cabin fever. Tonight I brought home pizza from a local place and I think we are pleasantly content with our bellys full of pizza and warm in the house.

Copper is still doing well. He still has the occasional cough and sneeze but he is very active and playful. He has been getting lots of attention since grandma is staying with us. He has a follow up appointment Thursday. Tugger has been suffering with a hairball theses last few days. It seems he likes to correspond his hoarking with the times we are eating.

I am feeling much better and my sinus infection seems to be on its way out. My low grade fever finally broke and the buckets of sinus drainage has seemed to diminished. I just wish my ears would straighten out and equalized and the pressure behind my left eye would go away.

Back to Bloggin.

I think this is the first time in awhile I let a couple days go by without a post, other than when we have been out of town. I wish I was out of town but no I am afflicted with a sinus infection. I have been blowing my nose and coughing a lot due to drainage. I have been under the weather the last couple days and to wake up to snow today makes me want to stay in the house and stay warm. The only thing is I am getting low on medication that makes this crap bearable. I think I can make it til tomorrow, and then maybe I will feel more like venturing outside. I guess it is a nice weekend to stay inside since we have a free STARZ weekend on DirecTV. We have been watching Kill Bill 1 and 2. Most people might be surprised that we haven't seen it yet but it just seemed to slip by under the radar without a glace. I have noticed a lot to the music in the show has been used in a lot of TV commercials. So far the fight scenes although interesting with its copious amounts of blood and gore have obvious wirework that bugs me. I don't mind the gore but I don't think it is Needles cup of tea.

Copper has been doing better. His bloodwork came back normal and the vet has extended his antibiotic dose with another week of Baytril. Today he seems to be sleeping a lot but I think it must be due to his distemper shot yesterday. They want him to come back next Thursday for a check up and if he isn't coughing anymore he will get his Feline Leuk. and Rabies vaccine then. Then we can set him up for his neutering.

I guess I am finished with my posting so now it's back to Kill Bill 2 on the tube, popping sinus meds and blowing my nose every five minutes. If you own stock in Kleenex your next quarter earnings will be up I am sure of it.

Valentines Day After.

Yesterday was Valentines Day, Needles and I in recent years, have been very practical with our gift giving. I used to get her a dozen roses for her Birthday and Valentines Day, but decided against flowers that would be dead in a week and decided on more practical gifts. After a few years of this we noticed nick knacks setting on the shelves collecting dust so I decided to surprise her, go back to the old ways and get her flowers again. I had them delivered to her work and she was very pleased. Yesterday, on her way home she stopped off and pick up a couple roses for me. I was surprised, because as a male I have only received flowers a couple times in my life. With Copper having to go to the vet, the kitten is starting to add up quite a bill and I was making jokes about having to get a second job to support my kitten. I was surprised again as last night Needles made the comment that as an additional gift for Valentines Day she was going to pay for Copper to get neutered. I was touched, yet amused by the comment. We both giggled as we both made the comment "Nothing says I love you like getting your kittens nuts cut. " Maybe you had to be there but we rolled for a several minutes on that one. As a practical person I am touched by the sentiment as I am sure Copper will be in a few weeks. Needles was just coaxing Copper to get out of the fridge as he seems he needs to explore inside. I think he might be short bus like his older brother.Needles is in the kitchen fixing supper. I am snacking on Dove's dark chocolate promises. Yum! The first few comments we read were kind of blah but this last few are a little more ambitious in there messages. I think I would rob a bank if Dove's messages told me to. I think the aluminum foil acts as a small transmission dish sending sub-liminal messages to my brain to make me eat more chocolate. Damn them and their remote marketing. I think it's secretly funded by the government after there failed remote viewing spy program in the late 50's and early 60's.

Not so easy come, easy go.

Since I haven't worked very many months last year I got quite a bit of money back that I paid in for taxes. Needles and I was looking and wondering what to do with all our loot from the government. We decided that now that we have wireless broadband that we might get a second laptop and we both can go on line at the same time. This sounded like a novel idea and we set about looking and different models and there capabilities. Accessories and what things we could get that we didn't get with our last laptop. I just want to let everyone know what we got with our money.

This is our new laptop. Well ,what we got with the money we was going to spend on a new laptop. A healthy laptop with a 2 Gig purrrcessor that's lightning fast and doesn't seem to stop. I don't think it comes with very much memory as it doesn't seem to remember not to be on the furniture. It does seem to consume a lot of resources and there seems to be a lot of output. Some quit smelly. I hope to get a lot of enjoyment out of it networking with our other laptop.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you about all the accessories. And here is a picture of them.

We are not sure how or where you plug them in but there sure is a lot of them. Maybe they are wireless also. WOW! I can't wait to see them at work. Thanks again for all the well wishes for our million dollar baby.

Back to the Vet.

Today I got up around 8 am and after a somewhat restless night, I checked on Copper. He wasn't any better in fact he seemed worse. I did check on him a couple time last night to make sure he was doing O.K. This morning I was hoping to see him scamper back to the back room side by side with Tugger to the food bowl. Instead Tugger won the race with out competition. After a couple minutes Cooper slowly made his way back there only to lick the gravy a couple times and cough and walk away. Alright maybe he can make it til tomorrow and then it is off to the vet. No waiting til Thursday. After a litterbox visit and a rest stop in the kitchen door way because going to the bathroom seemed to wind him, he returned to the living room and his comfy spot by the heater. Then a coughing fit hit him that lasted about a minute. He twisted his head from side to side and swallowed hard throwing his head forward and then back. Once the fit was over he was so weak he flopped over and was on his side only to gasp for breath and then raise his head because laying flat was too hard. THAT"S IT! I'm calling the vet! After making and appointment for 11am and being told that and emergency fee of 78$ would be charge for after hour appointments. I didn't care if they charged $500, I couldn't stand to see Copper suffer anymore. I rolled up to the vets office and waited. The Doc rolled in and we went inside. The Doc said it was probably a relapse of the respiratory infection and that a stronger medication was probably needed. She was going to keep him a day or two since his fever had returned and run some tests for Feline Leuk. and AIDS. Also give him some IV fluids as he seemed to be a little dehyrated and a respiratory treatment. I feel much better now that he was seen by the vet and was told his lungs were clear and that she suspected the nasal drainage was causing the cough, sore throat and residual loss of appetite. Resulting in loss of energy and lethargy. Thanks Cynical for talking with me last night and helping me through and stressful situation. I will keep you posted with more info as it become available to me.

The Dr. told me that the 78$ emergency fee didn't apply since this is a relapse of a previous visit. That was nice.

Back from the BIG City.

Needles and I desperately needed to do a little grocery shopping. We first stopped at Taco Bell for breakfast because when you think of breakfast food you instantly think Taco Bell. Needles had the Chicken Quesadilla and I had the new Crunchwraps. They were very good. We then went to the grocery store and then Wally World. We returned home to notice it had snowed while we were gone and there was a nice covering of the white stuff on everything. With the temperature hovering in the mid 30's it shouldn't stick around very long.
I am sad to say that Copper has resumed his cough. He spent the night at the vet last Wed. and returned home Thursday. We started him on antibiotic drops Thursday for one week. Last Wed. the vet called to see how Copper was doing and other than the occasional sneeze he was fine. Then Thursday he began to cough again. Some of the coughing fits were lasting 15-20 seconds. It seemed to settle down abit but last night he had several episodes and I am anxious for Thursday and his return appointment to the vet to get here. I hope this goes away soon. He still seems to eat and be playful but it is painful to see him crouch down and cough and cough. I have done some research on the interweb and think the diagnosed Viral Upper Respiratory Infection is the correct one but cannot find any info on how long these infections last. Some info states that they may go away and relapse at times of stress. I hope this isn't the case for him.

Addendum

As and addendum to Toilet Humor and Why two cats are better than one. It is also nice to go to the bathroom, set in the throne and have an audience that is pawing your legs for rubbins while I am preoccupied with my current activity. Yes. I am the lucky one. i will post more later when there is time. Needles and I are off to the big city.

Toilet Humor

Yes I said it.....Or al least typed it. I made mention to Tugger's eccentric past time of fishing out a litter covered "item" and knock it out of the sand box to play with. Yes, I do find this activity somewhat disturbing and I wondered if Tugger might be bored or maybe need some more toys. Let's just say that with the addition of the new family member and some new toys the activity hasn't stopped. In fact I think the newest member of the family may have developed a fecal fetish of his own. Maybe other kitties have a same obsession, but why must our kitty set in the litter box while you are cleaning it. Is it that he doesn't trust us to do a good job? Is that it looks like so much fun? I don't understand why we must clean the sand box around your highnesses rump. He likes to get right in the middle of things and just set there swiveling his head around as Mr. Scooper does his job. We have had Tugger use the bathroom just after we clean it, This is almost a ritual thing but Copper just likes to set there and watch his masterpieces in feces be removed from his museum of the litter box. The youngster doesn't even believe in covering his works of art and makes a feeble effort of scratching the side of the box for several minutes only to leave "it" out for the world to appreciate and enjoy his smelly genius. Needles is astonished at how a little kitty can pack such a wallop but I think he just takes after his daddy. He makes me proud and sick all at the same time. Must be a male thing. Needles and I are endeavoring to train our newest housemate with the rules of the house. I usually get up in the middle of the night to go to the rest room and find Copper perched on the back of the couch. We do not allow furry people on the furniture so I grab my handy dandy water pistol and give him a squirt. He usually removes himself from the couch without haste. Last night around 2:30am I felt the need to go to the bathroom and in the dark I saw a form on the back of the couch. I retrieved the water pistol from beside the coffee table and took aim and was about to squeeze off a round or two and noticed something wasn't quit right. I looked closely at my nemesis on the couch only to find out it was Needles microwave neck wrap she had been using to sooth a pulled muscle in her back. I am just glad the no one was there to see me in my proud moment of senility. I contribute it to the darkness and my dumbassedness. If it not a word it should be. Sometimes I am surprised that I can breath and type at the same time but maybe this is one of my good days.

Two Better Than One.

10 reasons why two cats are better than one.
  1. Twice the kitty crazes.
  2. Two hands are made for rubbin two cats. It's a pain to find something to do with the other hand.
  3. Twice the toys to step on while going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
  4. Twice the amount of cat food.
  5. Twice the amount of time on litter patrol.
  6. Twice the kitty bodies bouncing off your shins racing you when you are going back to fill the feed bowl.
  7. Twice the meows.
  8. Twice the cats to greet you when you get home from work.
  9. Twice the cat hair in the vacuum cleaner.
  10. Twice the glares when you are trying to eat something in the living room they think looks pretty good.

Word Cloud.

This is my word cloud. Check your own out here.

Kitty, Vacuum Cleaner. Vacuum Cleaner, Kitty.

I put off vacuuming as long as I could stand it. I got tired of picking up kitty fur tumble weeds off the carpet. It was starting to look like the wild west, we just needed a cactus or two spouting up in the living room. I wanted to wait until the kitties were getting along better before I added any more stress into the mix. Both Tugger and Copper was in the living room and I wheeled in the vacuum cleaner. Tugger did just what I suspected, and have seen him do in the past, bail for the protection of the sliver of space between the end table and the wall. Copper stood there looking at the vacuum cleaner as if it was something else to climb or play on. Needles and I looked at each other and winced as my fingers fumbled for the on switch. With a click the vacuum was coming up to power and Coppers eyes widened with the rising noise level. He ran as fast as his furry legs would allow for the same comfort spot as Tugger but before vanishing behind the table he paused for a split second for another glance to see if the torture was going to stop. Nope, so off to squeeze into the safety zone with big brother. I was afraid the noise might add stress to the relationship but I think it actually brought them closer together. They are brothers in fear. Shortly after the torture was over they returned to there designated napping areas without much anxiety. I was glad they both survived Coppers first vacuum cleaner experience.
They seem to be getting along very well. They have been chasing each other around the house and swapping who is IT. We still get the occasional hiss from Copper as I imagine this is kitten for "that's enough, step off!" It usually happens when Tugger is chasing Copper and gives him a swat on the rear and Copper tumbles like a antelope being chased by a cheetah. We are happy that they are getting along so well and hope that when Copper gets bigger that they continue to do so and there is no struggle for he alpha position in the house.
It's another Darn Mr. Ground Hog day today. The temperature is hovering around 27 and the wind has a definite bite to it. I don't share Raggeds love and enjoyment of winter weather. I do however like to see a white Xmas but after Xmas it can go away.
Today is Super Bowl Sunday and Needles is making home made chicken and noodle soup. We are in for the day and are hoping this day doesn't fly by too quickly as tomorrow it's back to work.

Cats, Coffee and Chinese

Today the house is a little more empty. Even with the addition to the family a few days ago. (Copper) We are one less. Needle's mom "L" went home today. I'm sure the boys (Tugger and Copper) will miss there daily rubbins while Needles and I are at work. After we took "L" back and dropped off her car we went to the big city to eat Chinese. Needles asked me if I was hungry and I responded "I could eat but not starving." After this statement I think I put away the first mounded plate in about 5 minutes. I did however hold myself to only one plate of food. I was very good. We then went to a grocery store in the big city. One in particular was Beuhler's, it seems to be the only store that carries the new Folger's coffee flavor, Chocolate Silk. We have searched high and low in our area and haven't found it anywhere else. I love it! I think they put crack in with the coffee. In the last couple weeks we have put away a 11.5 oz container. So this evening we bought a couple more. We usually make a 12 cup pot every evening after work and usually finish it up by bed time. We then returned home after considering and rejecting a run to Wally World. Copper has continued to get better. He has seemed to quit coughing but is still sneezing somewhat frequently. He and Tugger has been romping through the house and have now settled down for then umpteenth nap of the day. There is a important schedule off naps to maintain when your a cat or kitten. You don't want to fall behind in your schedule or you might never catch up and get back on track. There is the morning nap, the mid morning nap, the late morning nap, the pre lunch nap and post lunch nap, pre-evening nap, evening nap, and post evening nap, then while Needles and I sleep it is buffalo cat stampede. If we don't have the fan running you can hear both of them racing back and forth from the living room into the utility room. We call it buffalo cat time as it sounds like just that. A heard of buffalos running through the house. It is amazing that a cat and a kitten can make that much noise. I just wonder what it will be like when Copper gets bigger. The vet said he is going to grow up to be a bruiser. Tomorrow is the Supper Bowl and we are just going to stick around the house, and sip coffee and watch the football game. Not because of the game but to watch the interesting commercials. Mr. Ground rat is still on my hit list as it was windy and cold out today. Darn you Punxsutawney Phil, darn you to heck.

Cutey Patooty!

I giggled at Cynicals comment post the other day and it inspired a picture. My sis in law said Copper had an Ewok butt. Last night Copper vomited on the carpet but he still acts like he is feeling better. He had his second dose of oral antibiotics this evening. I think by the end of the week he will look like he got a little crazy with the lipstick. The antibiotic is a thick pink liquid and about 25% of it ends up around his mouth. He isn't much on taking medicine as you might guess. I can't blame him. Thanks for all the well wishes and I'm sure he will back to his old self in a few days.

DARN YOU GROUNDHOG!

I think that Punxsutawney Phil must die. I just looked at the next 10 day weather outlook for our area . Yuck! Cold, cold, cold, cold, cold with a side of snow toward the middle of next week. How much snow.....Who knows. Where did the spring like temps for winter go. Has winter finally arrived? I was hoping we would move right on into spring. Yep next time that furry ground rat pokes his head out. BLAMO! He's a dead critter. Like Farm Wife's squirrels.

Copper is home!

Copper came home today. He still isn't up to par but he is doing better. If you roll a rattle ball in front of him he tracks it with interest even if he doesn't have the oomphf to pounce. Yesterday he would have just kept his eyes closed. He is on antibiotics and still has a bit of a cough but is doing better. The ladies at the vet kept calling him a she and stating she so pretty, only to realize their mistake and saying he's too pretty to be a boy. Since I had to stay late at work, Needles picked him up. I had to stay late at work tonight thanks to a MVA (motor vehicle accident) that came in about the time I was getting ready to leave. I ended up staying over 2 hours because it was multiple victims. I might say it was an interesting day as we heard about an incident that happened about 40 miles away. A 80 year old man was mauled to death by a 400 pound black bear. This is something you just don't hear about in our neck of the woods. Apparently he was the caretaker of a petting zoo which housed 2 black bears. One got out and the man was attempting to round him up. Unfortunately things didn't work out and the man was mauled and later died in the helicopter on the way to the hospital. I do know more details of the incident but will keep them to myself for the squeamish.

State of the Moron Address.

I wanted to go off on "W" about his lack of information in his State of the Union address last night but I am not in the mood with current things going on so I will just say this. George W. Bush is proof that this country is strong and can take a few punches, because if you ran a company like he and his cronies has run this country we would have been out of business and bankrupt along time ago. But like the Enron president and upper echelon, they are all rich SOBs and getting richer until everything goes belly up.

Hump day and a trip to the vet.

I had plans to visit one of my friends today. I actually got off work somewhat early and was at his house for about an hour. Long enough to shoot the breeze and catch up on things that has happened since last weekend and I received a call. It was Needles saying that Copper didn't seem himself. We had noticed a couple of coughing fits with him but it only happened once on Monday and once on Tuesday and didn't think too much about it. He was active, eating and seemed fine. Today he didn't eat, was coughing more frequently, had a running nose and was somewhat lethargic. We called the first vet and told them what was going on and after putting us off until tomorrow and thinking Copper only had kennel cough and then realizing he was a kitty, which really made me think, I'm taking my business elsewhere. We called the second vet and was told to bring him in even amidst they had 2 cats that had been hit by cars in there at the moment. God forbid the other place stay open past 5pm on a Wednesday. After getting there Copper started coughing while in the lobby and we took him into a examination room. After checking his temp and it was running 105 they opted to check it again and it was even higher the second time. Normal temp for feline (100-103). The vet listened to his chest and inspected his mouth and throat to find some swelling and abit of a wheeze in his chest. Sooooo he is staying at the vets tonight and getting something to bring his fever down and a antibiotic to knock the bug. The vet decided he better stay there tonight as to keep him from possibly giving it to Tugger. I thought that Tugger might look around for him when we got home but he has returned to his old self of laying in indecent positions by the heater. My thoughts are elsewhere and I can't wait until tomorrow and the prospect of bringing him home again healthy and playful. I know it might take a few days to get back to normal but I can hope. I will post more tomorrow when I know more.
