Indianapolis, Playoff Football, Friday the 13th, Full Moon and Open Heart Surgery.

What more could happen. I shouldn't ask or I might find out. Well we just returned from Indy and Needles Mom is still up there. I had to come back today to go to work tomorrow. YUCK! Needles is on her way back to Indy. Everything went well with the surgery. We checked in at 5:30am Indy time and they took her into surgery at 7:00am. We were in the large community waiting room. We got to visit her in pre-op for a little bit and then we were taken to the surgery waiting room. Interesting people there... Think Deliverance. At around 9:30am we were told that the surgery went great and they were warming her back up after taking her off the bypass machine. We were notified Friday @11:00am that they were done. We then got to move into the recovery waiting room. We went back to see her for abit but she was still unconscious and on the respirator. Later that day during visiting hours we went to check in on her. She was still on the respirator but she was conscience and was able to respond to us by squeezing hands. We decided to leave as she was still very groggy and we wanted her to rest instead of staying awake to see us. Later that day about 3pm they had removed the respirator and she was doing well. She was able to whisper and chat with us briefly. Sat. morning she was awake and alert having very little memory of the previous days goings on and discussions. She was able to get up in a chair with assistance and her breathing exercises was great. They wanted her to be able to hit the 500 mark on the spirometer and she was hitting the 1500 mark. We were able to visit with her at length yesterday and even stayed pass the regular visiting hours as the nurse said it was fine. This morning we went in at 10 am and they had removed the chest tube and is expected to be moved to a regular room tomorrow. I would like to thank all of you that kept her in your thoughts and to let everyone know that things are going great. Now we just got to get her home.

Glad to hear Mother Needlefingers is doing so well! 1500 on the breathing thingy (ok, don't get technical on me) is great! I'm still praying for her.
